TRIP UPDATES:
May 5, 2008
After several months of
anticipation and preparation, the Malawi Travel Study Group departed
from Dulles International Airport on Saturday evening, May 3rd. Seeking
to experience and be a witness to God’s work in Malawi, the travelers
represent churches from Maryland and Florida and expect to travel in
Malawi until May 16th. They will visit three mission hospitals in
central and northern Malawi including Nkhoma, Embangweni and Ekwendeni,
all ministries of our Malawian partner Central Church of Africa
Presbyterian (CCAP). They will also visit Ministry of Hope Child Care
Centers and Crisis Nurseries in Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
As the group prepared their congregation’s gathered gifts for Community
Child Care Centers and needed items for Ministry of Hope Crisis
Nurseries. They also gathered knitted hats and blankets, and needed
hospital supplies. Please keep them in prayer as they travel and as time
permits they will continue to send updates.

On Monday we traveled south to Liwonde where we experienced the
graciousness and warm hospitality of the Malawi people. In Liwonde we
met the ladies from Chitukuko Cha Amayi, a womens' development group
raising funds by selling crafts. Team member Nancy Bertram was eager to
help them market their goods and before we left we had bags, baskets,
musical instruments, hand made paper cards and much more.

On Wednesday evening we arrived at Nkhoma Mission
Station and spent Thursday touring the hospital with PC(USA) Mission
Co-worker, Dr. Barbara Nagy. We visited with new moms, and shared the
joy of thriving premie babies housed in the Kangaroo center. While the
rainy season is past and there are fewer malaria patients, the wards are
still full and maternity has new Mom's sleeping on the floor at night.
We are looking forward to spending Friday and Saturday at the Minsitry
of Hope Child Care Feeding centers and the Lilongwe Crisis Nursery.
Check back for future updates.
May 10, 2008
After spending time at Ministry of Hope Projects on Friday and Saturday,
the team is headed north to the Embangweni and Ekwendeni Mission

Peace to all.
