Medical Benevolence Foundation seeks to help those in need all over
the world. To learn more about an area in which MBF has supported a

Bangladesh
Leslie & Cynthia Morgan
PC(USA) Mission Co-workers
The Morgans are staff physicians at Christian Mission Hospital in
Rajshahi, and advisors for the health programs of the Church of
Bangladesh. MBF shared in salary support.
China
Amity Foundation
Continuation of project providing training for healthcare workers. Funds
developed and upgraded rural health care facilities.
DR Congo
Bibanga Hospital
Funds provided general support, renovations of staff housing and
hospital rooms, repair of beds and purchase of mattresses, and purchase
of much needed medications.
Bulape Hospital
Funds supported purchase of medications, and provided support for palm
grove and charity care programs.
Good Shepherd Hospital (IMCK)
In addition to operations, a new vehicle, and equipment and supplies,
funds provided support for nutrition programs, the fistula repair
project, community health programs, Moringa Tree Projects, maternity
care, physician salary support, participation in local and international
seminars, nursing school scholarships and teaching materials for the
nursing and lab schools.
Luebo Hospital
Funds supported operations, hospital maintenance and charity care for
patients in need. Both the local community and the Presbyterian
Community of Congo Church(CPC) are committed to restoration of this
hospital constructed in 1914.
Mbujimayi Hospital
Funding supported the renovation of the hospital’s original building
containing some outpatient services, reception, records, laboratory and
pharmacy.
Michael and Nancy Haninger
PC(USA) Mission Co-workers
Michael is a physician serving at Good Shepherd Hospital with teaching
responsibilities. Nancy is a nurse-midwife assisting in direct patient
care, health promotion, and disease prevention. MBF shared in salary
support.
Larry & Inge Sthreshley
PC(USA) Mission Co-workers
Larry is the technical advisor to help develop new strategies and
programs focusing on developing a health management system. Inge is
involved in the areas of agriculture and development. MBF shared in
salary support.
UPRECO – Presbyterian University of Congo and Kananga
Egypt
El Saray Clinic
Funds supported an urban clinic sponsored by El Saray Evangelical Church
in Alexandria.
Magda Iskander
PC(USA) Mission Co-worker
Magda is a consultant for community health with the Coptic Evangelical
Organization of Social Services (CEOSS). She focuses on training home
health care providers for hospice and geriatric care. MBF shared in
salary support.
Equatorial Guinea
Andres and Gloria Garcias
PC(USA) Mission Co-workers
Andres and Gloria Garcias are on assignment in the only Spanish-speaking
country in Africa. The Garcias serve as evangelists and church
administrators in partnership with the Reformed Presbyterian Church of
Equatorial Guinea.
Ethiopia
Gotcheb Clinic
Funds provided operational support to this hospital offering primary
health services, and provided training for community health assistants
and traditional birth attendants.
Pokwo and Gilo Clinics
Funds supported community health programs through nurses training and
the purchase of medicine and supplies.
Adura Clinic
Funding provided training for nurses and the delivery of medical
supplies to this remote village in Bethel Synod.
Dembi Dolla
Funds supported HIV/AIDS prevention programs and training.
Ethiopia Evangelical Church
Funds supported HIV/AIDS prevention programs and training workshops for
women.
Haiti

nursing school affiliated with Hôpital Sainte Croix.
La Gonave – Health Care
Funding provided support for operations and the community health
programs on the island of La Gonave situated in the Bay of Haiti.
Covenant Hospital – Mombin Crochu
Funds supported the operation of this rural hospital in the mountains of

Emmanuel Hospital Association
Provided funds for operational support of this Indian Christian health
organization supporting rural mission hospitals, polio elimination and
community health programs.
Fairbank James Friendship Memorial Hospital (FJFM) & Community
Health Unit
Funds provided support to the Community Development program benefiting
women and children in eight remote villages.
Reeta and Hari Rao
Provided funds for the continuation of leadership at Society for
Nurture, Education and Health Advancement (SNEHA) which provides support
for community health programs emphasizing disease prevention.
Christian Medical College
Funds supported training for Christian medical personnel and supporting
the surgical unit with supplies, equipment and funds for patient care.
Miraj Medical Center
Provided funds for operational support of the medical center, cataract
surgeries, and the construction of a neurological unit. In addition a
container of supplies and equipment was shipped to the hospital.
Wanless Hospital
Provided funds for the operation of Wanless Hospital, a part of Miraj
Medical Center.
Christian Medical Association of India
Provided funding for churches to develop HIV/AIDS prevention and care
programs.
Francis Newton Hospital
Funds were provided to develop a casualty treatment center and upgrade
the ICU of this 300-bed general hospital affiliated with the Church of
North India.
Lafayette Hospital
MBF provided funding for the repair of the CT scanner.
Kenya
Kikuyu Hospital
Funding supported the operations, Diabetic Program and Eye Clinic. In
addition these funds supported the operations of the Orthopedic
Rehabilitation Hospital, charity care for their patients and
rehabilitation for disabled children. [Read

Tumekutana Conference
Funding for conference of African women empowering each other as
Christian leaders. Over sixty women gathered for networking, discussion,
and planning from 18 countries and more than 30 PC(USA) partners.
Tumutumu Hospital
Funds provided for operational support, maternity care, nursing
scholarship support, two new vehicles, the satellite phone and email,
and blankets for the School for the Hearing Impaired. [Read

Salvador and Irma de la Torre
PC(USA) Mission Co-workers
Salvador formerly served as medical officer at Kikuyu Hospital
but currently coordinates the AIDS program sponsored by the President’s
Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief in Kenya. MBF shared in salary support.
Korea
Margaret Pritchard College of Nursing
Funds provided general support for the nursing school founded by early
Presbyterian missionaries in South Korea.
Jesus Hospital-Chonju
Funds for support of the extensive community health department as well
as the general operation of the Hospital.
Lesotho
Lesotho Evangelical Church
Funds supported HIV/AIDS workshops providing training for pastors.
Frank and Nancy Dimmock
PC(USA) Mission Co-workers
Frank serves as the Africa Health Liaison for PC(USA) and commutes
throughout the continent, working with our partner churches on issues of
HIV/AIDS, caring for orphaned and vulnerable children, responding to the
“diseases of poverty,” and helping with administrative issues. MBF
shared in salary support.
Madagascar
Church of Jesus Christ of Madagascar (FJKM) Health Development
Project
Funds were directed towards the community health projects in
approximately 100 rural villages, which involves 200+ volunteers and
development agents.
Dan & Elizabeth Turk
PC(USA) Mission Co-workers
Elizabeth is a nurse and public health specialist who advises the health
department of our partner church, and Dan is a plant specialist who is
involved in efforts to plant fruit and native trees. MBF shared in
salary support.
Malawi
Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP)
Funds supported a three year collaborative HIV/AIDS project with
capacity building workshops and exchange visits between the three synods
in Malawi.
Ekwendeni Hospital
Funds provided support for general operations, nutrition programs,
community health programs and the rural mobile clinic, maternity care
and midwifery, and training through nursing scholarships. Supplies and
equipment were shipped to this hospital.
Embangweni Hosptial
Funds provided capital improvements, purchase of medications and
hospital supplies, ambulance maintenance, water system maintenance,
physician support, educational support for Dr. Dumisani Kamwana, staff
training, maternity & midwifery programs, the School of the Deaf, plus
community health and vaccination programs. Supplies and equipment were
shipped to this hospital.
Jodi McGill Scholarship Fund
Funding provided scholarships and assisted in recruitment of indigenous
health care personnel.
Ministry of Hope
Funds supported construction and operations of orphan care centers plus
operating funds for the Infant Crisis Nursery and the overall ministry
of the organization.
Mulanje Mission Hospital
Funds supported hospital operations, construction of staff housing and
new ward buildings, purchase of medical supplies and medication, plus
program support for cervical cancer screening, community health,
HIV/AIDS programs, maternity & midwifery and charity care.
Nkhoma Hospital
Funds provided support for general operations and home based HIV/AIDS
care.
Synod of Livingstonia
Funding supported the Synod’s HIV/AIDS control program (LISAP), provided
training, educational intervention programs and orphan care. Funds also
supported their malaria net program.
Synod of Nkhoma
Funds provided support for home based care and programs for orphaned
children.
David Gordon Hospital
Funds provided support for malaria prevention and treatment.
Sue Makin
PC(USA) Mission Co-worker
Sue is a practicing OB/GYN physician, who also teaches and participates
as an education consultant. MBF shared in salary support.
Jim and Jodi McGill
PC(USA) Mission Co-workers
Jodi serves as the Coordinator for the Synod of Livingstonia AIDS
Control program (LISAP) and the Primary Health Care Coordinator. Jim is
the Protected Well Coordinator and works with Malawian staff to ensure
all is in place for the installation of shallow wells. MBF shared in
salary support.
Martha Sommers
PC(USA) Mission Co-worker
Martha is a medical officer at Embangweni Hospital and currently the
only long-term doctor for this hospital and its health centers. She is
under appointment to the minister with the Synod of Livingstonia. MBF
shared salary support.
Nepal
Beverley Booth
PC(USA) Mission Co-worker
Beverley is a pediatrician and public health specialist. Currently she
is director of policy and strategy for the United Mission to Nepal, the
largest Christian development agency in Nepal. MBF shared salary
support.
Tansen Hospital
Funds supported hospital operations. This hospital provides primary,
secondary and tertiary care to the residents of the Palpa District, the
districts beyond, and to Indian patients who travel across the border.
United Mission to Nepal (UMN) Mental Health
Funding provided support for mental health care and treatment to the
community; physical, mental, social and spiritual needs of the people of
Nepal.
Share and Care
Funding was designated for the community based health and development
program at Pharping.
Lalitpur Nursing School
Funds were provided to renovate and expand the nursing school. [Read

Memorial Christian Hospital
Funds provided support for general operation of this hospital and
community health programs which treat the poor and those who have no
where else to turn.
Taxila Hospital
Funds provided supplies and equipment and operational support of this
hospital renowned for cataract surgeries.
South Africa
Malnutrition Program
Funding supported health education, teaching environmental hygiene in
homes and cooking methods, as well as weighing and screening
under-five-year-olds.
Thailand
Church of Christ in Thailand
Funds provided support of HIV/AIDS ministry.
Zambia
Mwandi Hospital
Funds provided support for general operations, education, and the,
purchase of medical supplies and equipment.
Mandevu
Funds supported the community based orphan care program including
assistance with construction of buildings.
Mphamba
Funds assisted with the construction of a girls dorm at Mphamba High
School in the Eastern Province.
Synod of Zambia Orphan Care
Funding supported the Synod efforts to assist HIV/AIDS orphans.
General Missionary Funding
MBF shared salary support for PC(USA) health workers in Africa, Asia and
Eastern Europe. Included contributions towards new positions.
Tsunami Earthquake
MBF sent funds and volunteers to help when the Indian Ocean earthquake
tsunami of 2004 struck south and southeast Asia.
Katrina Assistance
Hurricane Katrina devastated the United States gulf coast
leaving thousands dead and more homeless. Donors gave to the crisis
through MBF.
